The City of Hillsboro Water Department provides water service to over 24,000 homes and businesses in Hillsboro and also sells water to Cornelius, Gaston, and the L.A. Water Co-op. Those service connections translate into about 85,000 people who depend on Hillsboro Water to provide them clean, safe drinking water 24 hours per day / 365 days a year.
Caring for Hillsboro's Water Resources
Hillsboro's water utility is unique in that it is led by appointed Hillsboro citizens who focus solely on water issues. Since its beginning in 1940, the Utilities Commission has remained true to its charge of efficient and effective water management and has propelled Hillsboro to a lead role in regional water resource planning.
